And The Winners Are . . .

After a great deal of effort and thought, the judges for the Nathan Wolfe Essay Contest have selected the winners.  The winning essays belonged to:

Lauren Misik  (Biology major)

Jacob Schriner-Briggs (Philosophy major)

Zoe Siefert (Criminal Justice major)

CONGRATULATIONS to each of these individuals for their fine work.

For those of you who authored essays that were not selected  please rest assured that each and every essay received all due consideration by the judges.  In fact, selecting the final three was an arduous task.  Nonetheless, please accept the our deepest appreciation for everyone who participated in this contest.  We hope you found it meaningful.

Finally, we would strongly encourage you to attend Dr. Wolfe’s lecture on October 8th.  It is sure to be excellent.  If you need tickets still, and they are free, they are available at the Stambaugh Box Office (1000 Fifth Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio), Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The time has passed for the submission of responses to our essay contest question.  The judges are now evaluating all the submissions to determine which are the top three.  Already, the judges have noted that this is a difficult task given the quality of thought put into these brief essays.  All of you are to be CONGRATULATED for your efforts.  Truly, each of these responses display the best of critical thinking skills of our YSU students.  We deeply thank you for your outstanding efforts!!!

The responses from all the authors are still available for viewing in the two posts below.  However, additional submissions or comments are not being accepted.  Nonetheless, anyone viewing this page is encouraged to browse through these fine essays.

We anticipate announcing the top three essays sometime later today or tomorrow.  Be sure to check back to this blog page.  If your essay is not in the top three chosen, please be assured that your contribution was given all due consideration.  Not one of the submissions is below a standard of excellence.
